Modder Jabe Games Grafts Dark Souls Combat Onto Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, Complete With Rolls, I-Frames, and Corpse Runs

Have you ever dreamed of adding Soulslike combat to Blizzard's World of Warcraft? That's precisely the purpose of WoW Souls, a single player prototype in development by modder Jabe Games. This week, the modder published two videos demonstrating the prototype running in Northshire Valley, the starting area of the human race in the popular MMORPG. Interestingly, it contains no game files, instead reading the user's installations of World of Warcraft 1.12 and Dark Souls Remastered. WoW Souls runs on benilla, an open-source client based on WoW 1.12 written from scratch in Rust and Bevy and co-developed with Claude.
