Iowa posts sports handle of $290 million in September

Iowa’s licensed casinos and sports wagering operators generated nearly $27.9 million in state tax revenue for September 2026, according to figures provided to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. Gaming revenue was $128.2 million in September 2026, resulting in a 2.63% decrease from the same month in 2025. State tax revenue, however, increased by 6.78% over the same time period. Beginning with July 2026, monthly and fiscal year numbers no longer include promotional play from casino revenue. Monthly sports wagering revenue for August was reported at $23.75 million, a 4.6% increase from last September.
