Sony Releases Surprise New PlayStation 4 Console Update for November 2026

Sony surprised PlayStation 4 users by releasing a new system firmware, dubbed version 14.02, as a security update for the last-gen console. Although the PS4 has been superseded by the PS5 since the latter console's launch in 2020, that has not stopped Sony from releasing periodic updates to ensure system stability and improve performance on the older hardware. Over a month after Sony released PS4 firmware version 14.00 as a minor performance update, the gaming giant has released another patch for users to download and install.
