PlayStation Still Officially Supporting Physical Sales After January 2028

PlayStation will officially support game disc production after January 2028, offering slight clarification to its original announcement. To be clear, PlayStation will no longer make discs for any new PS5 games released after January 2028, but that does not mean it will no longer produce discs. After the initial announcement, PlayStation was asked about its presence at physical retailers. Brick-and-mortar stores like GameStop were among the first hurt by the industry's shift to digital games, which was a warning sign that eventually the biggest players in the field would likely move away too.
