Petition to save Mass Effect gets over 200,000 signatures after BioWare shut down

Mass Effect fans are refusing to give up on the franchise, with more than 200,000 people signing a petition urging EA to bring the sci-fi series back. The future of the franchise was thrown into doubt on October 21, when EA announced it was shutting down BioWare, the studio behind the series, as part of a restructuring involving approximately 400 layoffs. The closure also meant that Mass Effect 5, which had been in development for years, was officially cancelled.
