What 40x on the bonus means in practice

Wagering applies to the bonus only, not to the deposit and bonus together. That keeps the requirement lower than it would otherwise be. Here is how it works at different deposit sizes:

What the terms do not tell you

The pages we read leave out several standard bonus conditions: a maximum bet while the bonus is active, a deadline to finish wagering, a cap on winnings from bonus funds, and whether you can hold more than one bonus at once.
