Greece has defended its decision to increase taxes on online casino winnings as new figures show higher receipts from gambling across the market. The government says the measure will support public finances, while authorities are also strengthening action against unlicensed gambling. Since 1 July, winnings between €100 and €500 have been subject to a 20% rate, up from 15%. The rate on winnings above €500 increased from 20% to 30%.
