THORChain Halts 10 Networks After Ethereum Reorg Leaves 10 ETH Gap

THORChain halted trading across 10 blockchain networks after an Ethereum reorganization led a vault to send 10 Ether (ETH) without receiving the matching deposit, creating a solvency shortfall. The incident occurred Saturday, Oct. 31, at 7:34 a.m. ET (11:34 UTC) and lasted one block. A 10 ETH deposit appeared in a block Ethereum later removed, but THORChain had already credited it. The swap then missed its price limit and was refunded, leaving the vault to pay out ETH against a deposit that did not settle on Ethereum’s canonical chain. THORChain’s automated solvency check detected the deficit and stopped ETH swaps.
