THORChain Details Refund Error That Left a Vault 10 Ether (ETH) Short

THORChain traced a 10 Ether (ETH) vault shortfall to duplicate refunds after an Ethereum reorganization, while swaps remained disabled on 10 networks Monday as developers worked on fixes. At 7:34 a.m. ET (11:34 UTC) Saturday, Oct. 31, a one-block Ethereum reorganization removed a block containing a deposit THORChain had already logged. The swap failed to meet the sender’s price limit. THORChain made two refunds: one for the deposit it thought it held and another for the actual deposit. The shortfall triggered THORChain’s solvency check, which automatically stopped Ethereum swaps.
