BNB’s 1.65 Million Token Burn Shows Why Supply Rules Matter

The BNB Foundation’s Oct. 19 quarterly burn removed 1,646,196.44 BNB, about 1.25% of the post-burn total, while other networks use different rules to affect token supply. The Foundation valued the tokens at about $1.197 billion at the time, a figure that does not mean it spent that amount buying BNB. A post-burn snapshot put total supply at 131,512,085 BNB as of 6:05 a.m. ET (10:05 UTC) on Oct. 19. The 1.25% figure is a calculation that compares the amount removed with the post-burn supply, not a project-stated rate. The event was the BNB Foundation’s 37th quarterly burn.
