UNDP And Blockchain For Good Put Public-Service Security Ahead Of New Payment Rails

UNDP and the Blockchain for Good Alliance announced a two-year cybersecurity programme on October 19. The initiative brings a practical question into blockchain adoption by public institutions: whether the people operating a service can prevent failures, respond to them and restore access. Consider a hypothetical public grant system that records payments on a blockchain. The ledger can faithfully record a transfer even if an attacker changed the beneficiary’s details before an authorized employee approved it. Consensus over the final transaction cannot determine whether the original administrative instruction was legitimate. That makes the surrounding workflow part of the security boundary.
