Solana staking currently brings you around 4.96 percent a year if your validator takes the usual commission of 5 percent. That figure appears in no advertisement; it follows from two quantities the network publishes itself: the issuance of new SOL currently stands at 3.59 percent a year, and 68.7 percent of all SOL are staked. Whoever splits the reward among fewer participants gets more per head, and that is exactly where the yield comes from.
