Quantum-Resistant Bitcoin Just Arrived – And It Doesn’t Need a Soft Fork

Picture: Coinpedia

Crypto researchers have discovered a way to make Bitcoin quantum-ready without necessitating a soft fork. Compact Shield CSV would layer complex quantum-secure technology on top of the current framework, enabling secure, private, and quantum-proof transfers. The proposal eliminates the constraints of network congestion, developer and user coordination, and the resultant deployment delays of a soft fork. Researchers at the Center for Cryptocurrency Research and Engineering (IC3E) from Imperial College London have published major research on post-quantum Bitcoin security. The paper proposes a model that would make Bitcoin transfers private and quantum-proof, all without the need for a soft fork.
