OpenAI has introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, describing it as a faster model for computer use that is now beginning to roll out across ChatGPT Work and Codex. The release is significant because it extends the model into product tiers used for professional work while also making it available through OpenAI's API. In OpenAI's Oct. 26, 2026 announcement, the company positioned GPT-6.1 Terra as a model for visual reasoning, computer use and natural writing, and said it is the successor to GPT-5.6 Terra.
