Anthropic Makes OpenTelemetry Tracing Available for Claude in Public Beta

Anthropic has made OpenTelemetry tracing available in public beta across Claude Managed Agents, the Messages API and Claude SDKs, giving developers a way to inspect agent activity alongside application logs and metrics. Developers can set an export destination in the Claude Console. Traces can cover every agent turn, model call and tool use, as well as Messages API requests and Managed Agents sessions. They include latency, token counts and trace IDs. The traces follow OpenTelemetry’s GenAI semantic conventions. Those conventions should allow data from Claude and other providers to appear in the same observability tools and dashboards.
